Dear colleagues,
please note the first announcement of the 6th International Congress on Environmental Modelling and Software (iEMSs) under the title:
Managing Resources of a Limited Planet - Pathways and Visions under Uncertainty,
July 1 until 5 2012
Conference Venue: Leipzig, Germany
Rationale
In almost any of our decisions we make use of models that reflect the simplified understanding of our environment. Every model and every decision has uncertainties. Recent decline of environmental resources and the ecosystem services our environment provides are a consequence of managing a considerable complex system: our environment and our planet.
How can researchers and scientists cope with these questions of environmental resource management that our societies are faced with? Questions like these will be discussed at the conference venue of the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research, Leipzig, Germany.
Format
Core parts of the conference are sessions and workshops. While sessions follow the "traditional" scheme (15 minutes presentation and 5 minutes for questions) whereas workshops are designed to foster bigger proportions of discussions through a position-paper (presented by the workshop oranisers, 15 minutes), followed by comments of selected speakers (each 5 minutes) and further discourse with the audience.
Further Information
Concerning the requested format of session/workshop proposals, please take a look at (Sessions) and (Workshops). So, we kindly invite you to enrich this congress with a proposal for a session and/or a workshop.
Topics
...might for instance be inspired by the following fields: Catchment Management Tools Supporting Water Framework Directive, Uncertainty analysis in Climate Modelling, Computational Statistics for Ecological Systems, Visualization of Future Landscapes, Social Simulation and Resource Management of Common Goods, Agent Based model Understating Human-Environment Interactions, Integrated Simulation Model for Ecosystem Service Assessments, Remote Sensing tools for Data Assimilation in Hydrological and Vegetation Models, Integrated Assessments in Urban-Rural Regions, Ecological Economic Modelling, Distributes Databases and Recent Development oft he INSPIRE Directive, Decision Support Systems for Environmental Resource Management, Optimum Appropriation of renewable resources, Uncertainty in climate change simulation, and much more...
