Getting Around San Diego

With the countless number of things to see, do, taste and experience in San Diego, determining how to get around is as important as planning your itinerary. San Diego offers plenty of options for public transportation, be it by trolley, train, bus, taxi, ferry, or even a limousine. The easiest option is to rent a car, so you can roam freely through the vast and various San Diego regions. But if you’re looking to save a buck or be eco-friendly, plan to make the most of San Diego’s convenient and easy public transport options.

The Crowne Plaza conference hotel in Mission Bay is accessible by cab or by local shuttle bus (Cloud 9 shuttle bus service). For the more adventurous and to save a little money you can take a downtown bus and catch the Red Trolley to Old Town (see below). The Crowne Plaza Hotel offers a courtesy shuttle between the Old Town train station and the Hotel lobby.

Ride The Red Trolley

If you're staying in and around downtown San Diego, the iconic bright red trolley will take you in and around the city. The San Diego Trolley provides convenient services from key locations downtown, including the Santa Fe Depot and the San Diego Convention Center, crisscrossing through downtown and out to various locations like Old Town and Mission Valley.

There are three trolley lines (Blue, Orange and Green) that service the downtown San Diego communities and beyond, covering 51 miles of track, and 53 stations total. Fares run from $1.50 to $3 one-way and trolleys run an average of every 15 minutes, 7 minutes during peak and 30 minutes during off-peak hours.

For current information on Bus and Trolley Services, visit the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System.

To get to the Crowne Plaza conference hotel by trolley – take the Green Line to Old Town. The hotel is a short cab ride (about 1 mile) away. The hotel also offers periodic shuttle service between the Old Town train terminal and the hotel lobby.
