W12: Dynamic and fuzziness in spatial and land development processes

Goals

Topics:

• Do we need different models on different spatial or temporal scales for landscape modeling?
• Different types of landscape models need different kinds of data for model development and model evaluation - what about the quality of this data?
• Changes in landscapes are time dependent, how to consider different time scales (between seconds and centuries)?
• Landscape scenarios as the basis of simulations depend on uncertain and dynamic driving forces - what is their importance for reliable forecasts?
• Landscapes react as dynamic systems - how to handle such systems with time dependent parameters effectively?
• Input data and model parameters are fuzzy - what is their effective handling in landscape models?
• How to develop an effective spatial analysis and modeling software? Fuzzy techniques, dynamic modeling tools and spatial data environment - how to integrate it into modern landscape modeling tools?

Organization

At the workshop the participants give a short introduction in your scientific work and the problem solving process in context of the topics.

After the discussion, the original position paper will be revised. It will be co-authored by workshop participants selected by the committee and submitted as a paper of the EMS journal.
