S7: Order-, Fuzzy-set- and Graph Theoretical Tools and Software for Risk Assessment

We are currently facing a proliferation in data and information. This information overflow especially applies to environmental data. The basic requirements for attaining an improved environmental quality are the acquisition of reliable data and the development of realistic and rational models and software tools for risk assessment and decision making. Data on the environmental quality, environmental chemicals etc. are raised everywhere in the world. It is the objective of environmental sciences to analyze these data theoretically and quantitatively in order to gain knowledge out of the data. Advanced order-, fuzzy-set- and graph theoretical methods are presented in this session which will improve the risk assessment and support a more effective decision making process. Software for landscape modeling, environmental chemicals, environmental databases as well as modeling of sustainable logistic systems are given as examples. A major goal of this session is that a remediation of the environmental status can be effectively induced by knowing, understanding, and applying the presented software tools.
